Video Girls

As usual I'm consumed by girl crushes (not sure if that sounds a bit diminutive but I think lady-crush and woman-crush just sound very odd). Been up to loads and will update on that in the very near future but for now I'm going to limit myself to the sharing cool thing that other people have done.

First up is Pina Bausch, German choreograher and all around cool chick. My school play is 'Women of Troy' and the director is basically just ripping off Pina's style of physical theatre/dance type movement - think ladies in flowy dress and water and clutching at men's feet and symbolic 'rape' sequences. I've loved her work for ages and was lucky enough to see it earlier this year but watching Pina reminded me how great she was and how great Wim Wenders is.

Second is Phoebe Collings James, who makes really really cool videos and sculptures and drawings and any other medium you can think of. And here are some more superficial reasons as well.
1.. She's bleached her hair the exact shade of blonde that I'm too scared too (but watch this space)
2. She dresses real nice.
3. She makes videos with Karley Sciortino

Summer!!!!!!!!!!!

Skateboard Kings 1978

Summer is finally finally here!!!! And despite England's wet weather I am so happy the only downside being that my I go back to school on August 27th so only 7 weeks of freedom. In my dreams my summer would be an amalgamation of  Liv Tyler's in 'Stealing Beauty' and skating/surfing in California circa 1978 as in 'Skateboard Kings' but instead I will be:
1. going to wimbledon to the first time ever TO SEE THE  MURRAY V FEDERER FINAL!!!
2. trying to get a job
3. work experiencing
4. volunteering
5. taking a play to Edinburgh with my pals (in which I play Van Helsing, a vampire slayer the closest I will ever get to fulfilling my childhood dream of being Buffy)
6. (And on a slightly less cheery note) writing a research project on rapes committed by the Soviet Red Army against German women and the effect the rapes and subsequent abortions/ births had on and continue to have on personal and national identity
7. Maybe visiting the German military archives depending on £££
8. Reading a pile of books which, like me, are 5"10!
9. Maybe, hopefully, fitting in some sleepy times.

Sorry I've been a bit MIA lately  but I've been doing a play, going to open days, going to school, planning some things and having a minor crisis about uni but it's all fine now as I will be taking a GAP YEAR!!!!!

What have you guys got planned for summer?

I'm So Into You

4 exams down. 2 to go.
Trying to put off my revision (French Rev so much to learn do little time). So just uploading some pics of me and my homegirl hanging around in our Tommy Hilfiger threads. Was going to upload some pictures of us sans-culottes (historyjoke!) but thought that may be a little bit too cheeky.

(gedditbumckeeky)

Clearly I am a bit delirious from these exams so I shall stop writitng now and spare you.

GIRLS WHO ARE BOYS WHO LIKE BOYS TO BE GIRLS WHO DO BOYS LIKE THEY'RE GIRLS WHO DO GIRLS LIKE THEY'RE BOYS ALWAYS SHOULD BE SOMEONE YOU REALLY LOVE ....

Vice Fashion - Out of the Closet

What a dreamboat! He was my first crush who wasn't old enough to be my grandfather. I remember reading a letter in he wrote to Vice when he was 17 when I was about 11/12 and wishing that I was Chrissie so he be 'mad into' me. If I were a boy, just for a day I would pursue Ryan Mcginley. Failing that I would just rip off his style, I mean any man that wear gold cuban heeled boots gets my approval.

Pastel

Milla Jovovich/ Madonna in 'Sex'/ Daryl Hannah

I've have been feeling pastel vibes lately in the hope that if I dress like its approaching summer then I can trick the powers that determine the weather that it will be. Also I think that if we are in drought, it should at least be hot.

I'm bringing sexy back

So basically I have scoliosis. But its all good I like to think only total babez get it (Chloe Sevigny, Elizabeth Taylor, Kurt Cobain, Liza Minnelli, Yoyo Ma, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Laura Dern, Mel Blatt from Allsaints, Daryl Hannah, Usain Bolt AND two of the coolest girls that I know). Mine's not bad enough that I need surgery so I've opted not to have have it because I don't really like hospitals - waking up mid-operation aged 4 kind of freaked me out. Due to the fact that I have a wonky back, an insane amount of schoolbooks and seem to need to carry around an additional few kilos of general stuff, I need a backpack. At first I wanted a Kanken (cos they are cool) but they aren't that big and quite £££, so I bought this for £10. It's bright, slightly ridiculous and very year 7 on her 1st day of school and I love it.  Even better people can't be mean about it because its medical! Plus it always makes me think of Club Tropicana when I wear it, which can't be a bad thing.

AS revision isn't going that well .... I've managed to watch all episodes of Jeremy Kyle US AND Jeremy Kyle UK on itvplayer. Plus ebay keeps on bringing me awesome presents to myself case in point this sheer Whistles Shirt and a Gap white denim jacket.

Amazing Graceland!

I've bankrupted myself and pretty much emptied my savings for taking a play up to Edinburgh but it doesn't matter as I've bought myself tickets to see Paul Simon play Graceland (my favourite album) in full with support from Jimmy Cliff!!!!!! So that's one Graceland down and now I've just got to visit the other one and I can die a happy girl.
